| Frequently Asked Questions |
Question: TaVaci,
Answer: A franchise always has an upfront fee, ranging anywhere from $10,000 to $150,000 or more. As a business opportunity, you can begin establishing your school by purchasing a Director Package for $250. This allows you all the rights to function as a director in our corporation. A franchise will limit your creative abilities in demanding that you “duplicate” not “innovate”. A Business Opportunity allows creative people to lease our program and make it their own. We provide the materials and suggested ways to teach and implement it, but you decide what works best for you by adding or taking away from the base packet. Question: Where can I hold classes for my school? Answer: Often, our directors hold classes right in their own homes! Most of them set aside an area and have that designated as the “TaVaci Studio”. Many of them have set up studios in their garage or in an adjacent building of their home. Some directors rent buildings or a section of a building in the downtown area of their city. Question: How do I get started? Answer: Simply click on “contact us” on the website and we will contact with and answer any further questions. From there, we will make arrangements for you to purchase your New Director Packet. Question: Do I need special electronic equipment to begin? Answer: All you need in your studio is a CD player and a microphone. These can be purchased as a unit for a nominal fee. For the concerts, you will need a complete sound system with microphones, monitors, speakers, a mixer and CD player. Use of these items is generally included in the rental fee of most auditoriums or concert halls. If you need to, you can rent the above items at most stores that sell electronic equipment. Question: How many students should I teach? Answer: Generally, we recommend that a class is full at 20. We recommend that you begin with four classes in the following age consolidation brackets: 1) Pre-school – Kindergarten, 2) 1st – 2nd graders, 3) 3rd - 4th graders, 4) 5th - 6th graders. A full group would consist of 80 students; however duplicate classes can be added to teach more students. Your limit would be the number of students you can put on your stage. Our largest groups top out at 250 students. Question: What about costumes? Answer: Costumes for your group can be ordered through TaVaci, Inc. As soon as you become a director, you can click on the “for directors” button and order costumes, trophies, ribbons, shirts, packets, props, etc right online. We have a factory that makes all the costumes. All you have to do is try them on your students and order them! They will be sent to you via United States mail. Question: How many performances do you do? Answer: TaVaci is committed to performing, but we also realize that the right amount needs to be done in order to avoid burnt out parents and students! We recommend that you perform a major concert in December and another one in May, culminating the learning in the classroom for each semester. These are performed with script, lights, orchestrated music and costumes after staging and dress rehearsals! They are an exciting time for the student and very much anticipated by family, friends and the community! We perform enough to keep the spark and avoid the drudgery. Extra performances are totally optional and are at the discretion of the director. Question: Will I need a business license? Answer: Most cities require a business license for large and small businesses. We have some directors in cities that do not. You will need to contact your city offices to determine if it is necessary in your community. Question: What will I teach in the classroom? Answer: One of the great things about our program is the fact that we use the performing arts as the vehicle to teach life skills to children. In our suggested lesson plans, we give you ideas to teach drama, theory, rhythm, and vocal production in a fun, creative way that have students leaving the classroom with anticipation of returning soon. Question: Is TaVaci for everyone? Answer: Our philosophy is that all children benefit if they learn how to perform. At some point in their lives, they will need to give a science report, recite a poem, or tell a joke at a family reunion. We teach children to feel comfortable on stage. We teach them to focus and control their bodies and minds as we unveil the exciting world of music and the performing arts. It has long been established that music unlocks the mind and enhances abilities in many areas of academics. We introduce all different kinds of great music and help children to learn how to move to rhythm, sing correctly and through theatre, learn how to express themselves. We believe that all children, regardless of age, race or ethnic background can benefit from this program. |
